Lori Garver to be named NASA’s Deputy Administrator! — White House announcement, via Reuters: http://bit.ly/pVBle

Lori Garver and I crossed paths briefly at NASA Headquarters; she was the AA for the Office of Policy and Plans (Code Z) when I came in as a Presidential Management Fellow in 2001.  I interviewed for a temporary position there, and joined the office for a brief stint soon after it reorganized in 2002.  Before returning to the Office of Space Science, I worked with many of her colleagues, and I can tell you this.  She is passionate about what she does and about what she believes.  And she believes in NASA.

Charles Bolden is the White House’s pick for new Administrator of NASA.  He is an ex-astronaut, retired Marine general, and a former Assistant Deputy Administrator of NASA.  I hope he also is a supporter of space science.  I hope.
