Speakers

Both the American Physical Society and the Association for Women Geoscientists offer Speakers Bureaus that highlight women speakers available for colloquia, seminars, or special events.

The APS has over 320 speakers on their list, as well as information about travel grants.

The AWG has 13 pages of women speakers; they also offer funding to help cover the speaker’s expenses.

The American Physical Society also has a Minority Speakers’ Bureau that will defray travel expenses for minority colloquium speakers in physics.

Attendees at the 2008 Women’s Networking Breakfast at LPSC suggest inviting women speakers to speak at department events and then organizing a lunch for women graduate students, postdocs, and other interested women, to provide additional support and role models for younger women in the field.
