Yuri’s Night

April 2, 2008

A friend at Goddard just let me know about Yuri’s Night, a network of parties held all over the world each year to celebrate two major events in space exploration history:  Yuri Gagarin and the first crewed space flight mission on April 12, 1961 and the first launch of the Space Shuttle on April 12, 1981.

I’ve never been before, but I’m thinking of getting tickets for this year’s event at the Goddard Space Flight Center’s Visitor Center.  I take the kids to see the rockets there often enough … I can’t wait to see what it’s like with wine, canapes, and a band!

What do you think?  Have you been to a Yuri’s Night party?  Thinking of going this year?
