NASA Earth and Space Science Fellowship (NESSF) Program

January 17, 2009

The annual deadline for the NASA Earth and Space Science Fellowship is approaching quickly … new applications are due February 2, 2009.

This is YOUR opportunity to propose for funding for up to three years of stipend, tuition, fees, travel, page charges, and books, not to exceed $30,000 per year. It’s also a great experience in proposal writing, as you’ll be writing an actual research proposal and submitting it through the same NASA system that all planetary scientists requesting funding must use (Hint: give yourself a little extra time to navigate NSPIRES and get institutional signatures).

There are 42 fellowships available, with approximately 10 going to graduate students in planetary science this year. Have fun and GOOD LUCK!

Note to research advisors: have you encouraged a student to apply for the program this year? Time is running out!
